This year, Administration is proposing that we collect a total of $4,092,662 from Payments in Lieu (PIL) and Property Taxation which is $127,053 (3.204%) more than the 2024 Municipal Budget total levy. The total budgeted cost of municipal operations is $4,722,662; Administration is proposing a budgeted use of reserves and reserve funds in the amount of $630,000.

Within this request, Administration is seeking $11,823,000 for capital works and purchases of which $90,000 would be raised from current year PIL and property taxation; $1,254,000 would be utilized from reserves and reserve funds; $3,356,000 from long term debt; and $7,123,000 from grants and other revenue.

The overall residential tax rate for 2025 (including Education Tax), as proposed, would be 7.329051% which is an increase of approximately 3.85% compared to the 2024 overall residential tax rate and a 3.93% increase to the 2024 municipal tax rate. Assuming no change in MPAC assessed value, the average residential property ($41,100) would see an annual property tax increase of $111.60, whereas a $100,000 commercial property would see an annual property tax increase of approximately $298.69 for the 2025 taxation year.

Senior Administration has worked closely with Department Heads to ensure that both operating and capital expenditures have been identified and will continue providing quarterly reporting for the remainder of the year to ensure that any operating variances are managed and explained.

Print copies of the budget consultation survey and the June 18, 2025 draft budget report presented to Council are available at the Reception Desk at the Township Office, or via request by contacting Aaron MacGregor, Treasurer at treasurer@manitouwadge.ca or (807) 826-3227 ext. 225.
