Consultation has concluded

The Township is seeking public input into the 2021 Municipal Operating Budget prior to ratification by Council at their regular scheduled meeting at 7:00 pm on July 14, 2021. Please review the information below, download a copy of the presentation to Council, and complete the short survey attached to this page. Deadline for responses is Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 12 Noon.

If members of the public have questions they would like Council to address, please include the question in the attached survey, along with your phone number, and Council will call you at the Public Meeting to be held prior to the regular meeting at 7:00 pm on July 14, 2021 (time to be confirmed).

This year, Administration is requesting that we collect a total of $3,654,698.95 from Payments in Lieu (PIL) and Property Taxation which is $458,980.42 (11%) less than the 2020 Municipal Budget.

Within this request Administration is seeking $2,073,427.00 for Capital Works and Purchases of which $764,227.00 would be raised from PIL and Property Taxation and $639,200.00 would be utilized from Reserves.

The overall Residential Tax Rate (including Education Tax) as proposed would be 6.62921220% which is down by 0.78675642% from the 2020 Municipal Budget. With no changes in Current Value Assessment (CVA) a $50,000 property would see an annual Property Tax saving of close to $400.00 whereas a $100,000 Commercial Property would see an annual Property Tax saving of approximately $900.00 for the 2021 taxation year.

The proposed tax decrease is a result of an accumulation of surplus funds generated over the past several years. Senior Administration has worked closely with Department Heads to ensure that both operating and capital expenditures have been identified and will introduce quarterly reporting for the remainder of the year to ensure that operating variances can be better managed and explained.

Print copies of the June 30, 2021 presentation to Council and the survey are available at the Library and can be requested by contacting Chris Townes, Treasurer or Florence MacLean, CAO.
